I had not heard of this new game craze called Minecraft. There are not many games that have enough substance to hold my attention. When I read that Minecraft's forte is not the graphics I was interested.

Times are tough. There are a few principles we have in my family about spending money. We rarely buy anything we don't really need. A computer game that was challenging enough mentally might provide a lot of entertainment value and save money spend other wise on family entertainment. Even having passed that hurdle we don't buy things we cannot try first. It took awhile but we were able to find a website promoting purchase of the Minecraft game while offering a single player cracked online version for free.  The reasoning fit my thoughts exactly. If it's really good I will be happy to purchase a legal copy. I appreciated the opportunity to try the game out, for free, first before purchase.

The game set up and right off we found out our, supposedly state of the art, graphics accelerator had out of date drivers. That took a while to figure out but once over that hurdle the game ran fine. Note the multiplayer version does not work in the free version.The game Minecraft is amazing. No wonder it's at the top of Google Searches in the computers and electronics category. I am not talking about one time near the top. Minecraft is listed in all top ten searches in that category for the last 30 days.

Minecraft is fun and most important it challenges you in many ways. This game is not just a matter of learning some tricks specific to the game and your controls. This game requires thinking, planning and taking action. For once a game that could truly be educational and developmental for young people. The game is like life. If you don't perform, you don't survive. Okay, so what, a lot of games are like that, but this game is different. Somehow, the simple environment you start with ends up being a result of what you do with what you have. If you end up being wiped out it is because you did not take advantage of the resources available. 

Minecraft is worth your time and money. I think it would be a super Christmas gift for almost anyone. I believe the game could be lifesaving for elderly family members because it's not difficult to play and it challenges the mind, keeping it active. I rarely endorse things that cost people money but this is one I am proud to say is worth it.
